Door mat with Chevron Design

I am in LOVE with my new door mat. I had been searching for a cute one but the problem was that none of the colours went well with the colours in our place. I hunted around Pinterest and got some ideas from different people then attempted to make my own!

First I bought all the supplies. I was a little overeager and cut out the letters I needed right away.
Supplies Needed:
 Door Mat

Vinyl Letters
Spraypaint x2 colours

Painter tape

As I said before I was having a really hard time finding colours that matched my home, so I bought two colours of Acrylic paint from Michaels and Martha Stuart Spray Paint Kit. (Best dessision ever btw.)

Cut out and place the vinyl letters where you want them on the mat.

Sketch out a rough draft of how you want to chevron design to look

Find a place outside to spray your mat.

Spray paint with your second favourite colour.
.

Using a measuring tape and painters tape create the chevron design.

Now spray on your favourite colour!

Now you have a gorgeous new doormat!

Bridal Shower Game

I just came across this when I was cleaning up my computer and thought I would show it off. I made this for a Jack & Jill shower that family friends hosted for Jordan and myself, the one who guessed the most right won a prize.
It was quite simple...just circle which silhouette you think is the right answer. Some of the answers were surprising! Its a really simple and  fun game to get to know the couple. Many of the people at the shower didn't know Jordan too well and were able to learn more about him.

Pomander Ball

Another DIY project I love and that actually turned out. Here is how I made my pomander balls.

 Supplies:
White foam balls (I chose 3 different sizes)
A few hundred pearl tipped pins
Two different colors of paper
Martha Stuarts hydrangea punch

You’ll need to punch about 200 of the hydrangea petal shapes, which will take around a sheet and a half of 12×12 scrapbook paper.

Stack two of the flower petals and turn them a bit so it looks like a full flower. Stick a corsage pin straight through the center of your petals. Push the end of the pin into the Styrofoam ball.

Make sure your flowers are close enough that the petals cover the Styrofoam. Repeat until your ball is covered.

Find a place to put them! I made mine two separate colours and then combined the two of them which I think made a great look.

Melted Crayon Art

As for many women out there, Pinterest has become my favourite waste of time. I came across this project on Pinterest and fortunately my friend Stephanie wanted to try it too. So if we failed we failed together! I think it turned out pretty well!

Supplies you will need :
Canvas
Crayons
Hot Glue Gun
Hair Dryer
Silhouette (Optional)

My goal was to make the canvas look like rain with the silhouette people standing in the rain. My friend on the other hand just put a wooden letter S and matched the colours to her room. Because I wanted my canvas to look like rain I ordered a custom pack of crayons from Crayola.com and you can choose 4 colours so I choose 4 different blue.

I then outlined and colored in the silhouette.

Then, using the hot blue gun, I glued on the blues in random to look like rain.

Here it is with all the crayons.

I then covered the silhouette that was under the umbrella.

Melting the crayons with the hair dryer was a lot of fun. It took a little while to learn the best way to blow dry it, to get the look you want.

Keep melting until you get the look that you want. It does take a while.

Remove the cover and show off your art work! I think next time I do it, it will turn out a lot better, now that I know how the crayons melt and what works best.

Vinyl Tree

Here is my latest DIY project for the home. I saw a similar idea on Pinterest and I couldn't resist!

First, I spent a couple hours online hunting for vinyl tress on random websites. Finally I found one that wasn't ridiculously over priced. Then had to wait impatiently for it to be delivered.

Jordan and I laid out the pieces how where we wanted them on our wall.

Then we started putting them up piece by piece!

All the piece on but still have to add one more final touch!

Our new towel hooks!

I'm so happy with how well it turned out!

Chalkboard Labels

A couple weeks ago I took on a new project. Organizing the cupboards in our new house!
I wanted to put labels on some containers but knew that my cupboards are not always stocked with the same things. So then I thought what better than chalkboard labels?! But it turns out that buying chalkboard labels is super expensive. So I decided to make my own. Its super easy and WAY cheaper. Here's how you do it.

Buy some average labels (I got mine at Walmart) and pick up some chalkboard spray paint at any hardware store.

Spray paint the labels, follow the directions on the can.

Find some containers you like.

Write the names on the labels.

Put on the labels and fill the jars.

Wedding Day Pictures!

Jordan and I got married March 24th 2012.
Somehow is was an incredible beautiful sunny march day, in Vancouver!

By the way, this is the longest blog post ever!

The fun day started while getting ready with my wonderful (and gorgeous) Bridesmaids.

The boys took over Jords and my new place (watching Zoolander).

We took some of our pictures prior to the ceremony at Minnekhada Regional Park. It was such a great location and there was a cute little house on the property where we took some pictures.

Our first look.
